Independence Day
This weekend we celebrated the independence of our great nation, The United States of America. It is a great day, that came at great cost. So many have sacrificed health, family, career, and even life for the freedoms that we enjoy in the good old US of A.
I, however, have not. I have never had to go to war, I have never had to bear the loss of a son or daughter for this country, and I have never been persecuted for being an American. I have never had to stand up against a tyrant and I have never had to defend my own home from an oppressive and hateful government. I have only reaped the rewards of so many before me who have done all of that and more.
And so today, it is those that I celebrate and that I thank my God for. I am under no illusions, we do not have a perfect country and our freedoms are being challenged every day, but we do have much to celebrate and I still have the freedom to stand with you and spend my efforts on the greater fight of this Kingdom of Heaven rather than worry about getting this message out in some underground church as so many still do in this world.
These freedoms may not last for ever, they may be taken from us soon; but not today. So I will celebrate these freedoms and use every day as a gift to advance my Lords Kingdom.
To the King,
David
