Stones, Timbers, Palaces, and Towers

These last few weeks have been … shall we say, challenging.  It seems as if much has been disrupting my world.  As I have been trying to discern what God would have for Knight Vision Ministries, most of what I feel is just doubt and confusion.  Doubt that God really has any plan for us and confusion as to how to proceed with that.

Then last week, as I prepared to leave on a men’s camping trip (a chance to regroup and listen to my King), within forty-eight hours two of my watches stopped, my farm tractor broke down, my motorcycle wouldn’t start, our heat pump sprung a leak and flooded part of our basement, an x-ray machine at my office broke and another chemistry machine quit working completely.  Further, there seemed to be some collateral damage as Chuck, the man I rode up to Colorado with, had his DVD player, his camera and his GPS all quit on him while I was with him (sorry Chuck  ).  Then finally, this morning I woke to find our pool had flooded the motor that runs the pool cover (last time that happened it was a $3000.00 repair).

I’m not sure if I should cry, laugh, or just move to the mountains of Montana and hide.  I do know this, when the bullets begin to fly like this, there is this overwhelming urge to just give in, to step out of the battle, and to agree with the doubts and confusion.

And that is exactly what my enemy is banking on.

There is this scene in the movie First Knight when King Author is speaking to Lancelot about the battles surrounding their kingdom of Camelot.  He says, ‘This is the heart of Camelot, not these stones, not these timbers, these palaces and towers. Burn them all and Camelot lives on, because it lives in us.’  Our King said something similar when he said, “The kingdom of God does not come visibly, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,” because the kingdom of God is within you.” (Luke 17:21).

It is that kingdom that is opposed.  But since our enemy can’t destroy this kingdom, he must rather destroy our faith in this kingdom.  He must burn the stones and timbers and palaces and towers and hope that Camelot, that the Kingdom, does not continue to live on in us.

This is the heart of the battle, and it is here that we must not be moved.

To the King,

David

I had just finished my personal 'quiet time' with the Lord and one favorite verse from God's word was still very present with me. Then my son forwarded this to me. Thank you for allowing God to bless folks you have never met (but will some day) God's kingdom is, first of all, the active presence of God's spirit within us, offering us the kingdom we truly desire. Keep up the fight my friend, the battle belongs to Him. From another warrior alongside you in the battle of life.

Great post David. I have been seeing clearly lately that the enemy has one thing in mind in all this. To get us to fall away from the faith. Give up!
